MUMBAI: A former student of Dahanukar College, who lost his left leg and hand in a 2011 mishap, scored 67.68% in HSC exams, appearing as a private candidate.
While still in Class XI, Santa Cruz resident Siddhesh Jumare (17), fell off the train while boarding it at Vile Parle station on December 27, 2011. He didn't give his Class XI final exam and was also unsure about appearing for the board exams.
"I didn't follow any timetable as I started studying just three to four months before the exams. Also, I lost a lot of time till I got artificial limbs. I began attending classes only in September last year," he said. He studied with his friends, but said tuitions from a friend's mother helped him a lot. "My family forced me to write the HSC exams as I was quite unsure about my abilities. They trusted me and felt I could do it," he added. He appeared for the exams with the help of a writer. "I was tensed but I scored more than what I expected," Jumare said.
